The typical Italian small market town of Bellante is less than 2 miles away perched at the head of our valley. The town dates from the 16th century with its centre of narrow cobbled streets, traditional stone built houses and porticoes beautifully maintained in their original state.
The Grand Sasso ,with the Grande Corne in the centre, is the highest peak in Abruzzo at 3,000 metres, yet ,although it is just over 50 miles away, it still dominates the local skyline. A visit up into the hills and mountains of the nearby National Park rewards with some stunning landscapes. Twenty minutes away is the ancient university city of Teramo which amongst other things boasts a wealth of Italian cuisine and a vibrant nightlife. And in the winter the ski resort of Roccaraso is less then 2 hours drive
Just twenty minutes drive away are the blue flag beaches of Giulianova and Tortoreto on the Adriatic coast. Typical vibrant holiday resorts in July and August, while the rest of the year you can relax with the locals on the fine sandy beach, or follow the 30 mile cycle track that runs adjacent to it.
